1000
Woohoo! Today I celebrated my 1000th post! Hard to believe it's been 3 years since I've joined this place...
I feel like I've made all sorts of friends here in that time, and logging on to read some of the posts from the people I've gotten to know just makes my day a bit happier!
Here's looking forward to the next 1000!

You hit on something in your post that rings true to me, also. This is by far the most congenial board I post on (although I post on only three or four).
This does lend to a sense of actually making friends, especially when so many of our members make it a point to meet for kilt nights and such.
I wish I believed in reincarnation. Where's Charles Martel when you need him?

Congrats! I have to say I DO enjoy reading your posts.
How are things at home now. Japan is mostly out of our news cycle now. I know life is not 'back to normal' but are folks coping at least?

Congratulations!
But 3 years well, that's only 0.92 posts per day...
Quality rather then quantity.

Hey guys. Things are about as normal as can be... But things are actually still very grim. It's not in the news as much, but this is going to be a long, hard road for many people.
The situation up north in Fukushima is dire with radiation issues. Young children are exhibiting signs of radiation sickness and there have been all sorts of coverups with the seriousness of the situation. People have been found with radioactive urine, school kids are being sent to school with sensors there, and there are nuclear hotspots as far south as Tokyo... Our Geiger counter readings in Kofu have been more or less normal, but you don't have to go too far to find more elevated readings. They are probably still within the realm of "normal" but it makes a person nervous.
I would say it's fine to visit -- it's about as safe as can be as long as you aren't in an affected area for a long period of time. The wife and I still take regular trips to Tokyo without concern... We've chosen not to be alarmist about this, and we feel like we need to show some solidarity with the Japanese people rather than fleeing with our tails between our legs at the first sign of trouble. But still, the situation persists and there is no end in sight.
Please continue to pray for Japan!
