Geoff Withnell is a terrifc host
This past Friday the Mrs. and I had the privilege of enjoying dinner with Geoff Withnell, his lovely bride Michelle, and our very own Mael Coluim. The Withnells and MC were camping (not together) at the Grandfather Games and Geoff had invited the Rabble to his campsite for a cookout. We all contributed a few things to the meal and had a delightful time getting to know each other. As we were leaving, the Mrs. remarked, "That was kind of weird, eating dinner with strangers," to which I replied, "They're not strangers; they're Geoff and Ern!" When you stop to think about it, it is kind of strange. I had met Ern once, two years ago, and had never met Geoff, but we hit it off immediately and everyone had a good time getting to know each other.
There are no pictures. None of us remembered our cameras
If you ever get the opportunity to enjoy the hospitality of Geoff and Michelle, I think you'll be well-pleased. Thanks again, Geoff.

Thank you for sharing, mate. I am pleased you had a wonderful time with your most gracious and eventful hosts! Not too surprising I must say; U.S. Marines have been known to be just as hospitable as Highland Scots. Well done Geoff and Michelle!

No photos it didnt happen.... Just Kidding as we all have missed kodak moments
You had two great catalysts for such a wonderful evening, games and camping. Given also wonderful hosts what more could you ask for. When we remove the trappings of the daily grind, cities, cars, the office and suburban isolationism we find ourselves much more at ease in the world. Camping has always been a good reason to visit with anyone around you, and games just add the extra. All coming together you happened on one of those magic moments we all enjoy, letting down our guards and relaxing. Your hosts for the meal sound fantastic and you took it well in stride they were family in a way (Xmarks family). We all need and should relish such events and take away friendship and renewed enjoyment of life. Good for all of ya.... And many thanks for sharing.. even without photos ;)

Aye, it was a good time amongst friends. Appreciate Geoff and Michelle having us over. I am letting the Rabble know a secret; David makes the best fruitcake!

*** on David's fruitcake. As far as friends go, Ern has helped me find my way in this kilted experience, and having spent some time together at kilt nights, games and the Alexandria Scottish Walk, I am proud to call him a friend. David and his Mrs are wonderful people, and it felt like we had known each other for years. Hope to meet up again. They, and MC improved the evening no end. One of these days, I'm going to hire a pavilion at an event and feed the whole lot of you that show up! You can bring your own booze though, I'm working, not rich!
Just for the record, My Lady's name is Michele (German spelling) not Michelle (French spelling). No problem, how would you have known?

David the fruitcake is a grown man. I'm sure he can drive himself.

BTW I hate every fruitcake I've tasted. Would love to try yours just to prove myself wrong.
