Gun Haggis Fat Choy! (what?)
This is something I heard about on the radio: apparently some years back, a person of mixed Scots and Chinese heritage, a man from the Vancouver area in British Columbia, started a growing movement involving the mixed celebration of Burns Day and Chinese New Year, and it is indeed called Gun Haggis Fat Choy. There is said to be a Burns supper with, among other things, haggis-filled eggrolls on the menu. I for one would be most interested to learn more, if any members here know about it.
Otherwise, Lunar New Year falls on February 3 this year. This must be by far the largest holiday on earth, and although a person with zero Asian heritage, I still wish to extend everyone the more traditional greeting of Gong Hay Fat Choy!
This will be the Year of the Rabbit. Respect the power of the bunny.

I'll be picking up moon cakes this week, maybe I'll have to make a haggis again as well, just to fill eggrolls with.

As a kilt-wearer and a practitioner of Chinese martial arts, I celebrate both Asian lunar new year and Burns Day. This event sounds like a great idea and I'd like to check one out someday.

Well, like Canuck of NI, I have zero Asian heritage, but I do have many Chinese friends here in Port Elizabeth (the most Chinese city in South Africa).
And two of my nieces (neither of whom is from PE) are now married to Chinese men (both South African-born).
So I will also say: “Gong Hay Fat Choy!”
Regards,
Mike

Bruce BC was there last night. My friend Patrick Gallagher of Chinese/Irish descent gave the keynote address (whatever that is) and word is that next year it will also include those of native heritage and be called the Gung Haggis Fat Choy Pow Wow.

Our (Seattle) event is coming up, and I've already purchased my tickets. It's a great event, and should be a lot of fun again this year.

Well, actually, I can't say that at all.
