Happy Year of the Monkey - Chinese Canadian Flash Mob

Only peripherally and ephemerally linked to Scottish culture:

Canada's official policy on multiculturalism (read it here) has, I know, puzzled some who are not Canadian. While we are wishing our Chinese friends a happy year filled with good fortune, I invite you to have a look at this video of a flash mob, filmed in front of our national parliament buildings.

If you look carefully, by the way, you'll see some performers wearing national clothing that tells you that not all of them are Chinese either. Here in Canada, we invite people to celebrate both their native lands, and their ancestral linkages. I for one, am proud of that and enjoy it!

None of that means that those who celebrate their inherited cultures are any less "Canadian" as witnessed by the drummer with the Maple Leafs hockey jersey. That's what is to me, most unique about Canada; we are our most Canadian when we are also something else.

(By the way, it's cold here in Canada, but we're used to it!)
