One Year Anniversary @ XMTS
December 8 will be my 1st anniversary on XMTS. How the time has flown! Much has happened in this year.....acquisitions of kilts and accessories, a heart attack, a busted up knee, more kilt stuff, and so it goes.. I, now, have spent a considerable amount of $$ on kilt 'stuff!' But, I love it all, and I've learned a lot about highland dress. Thanks to everyone!

Congratulations Dennis. I am coming up to five years on xmarksthescot later this month. During that time I have undergone a career change, survived a deep vein thrombosis which meant giving up private flying, and parted from my dear wife Ann after 25 years when she took a stroke which left her with dementia and paralysis from the waist down such that she now needs full time nursing care and lives in a nearby care home.
On the positive side I have travelled twice to Canada and twice to USA during those five years, meeting up with North American based xmarkers on every trip and I have also met many xmarkers from other parts of the world during their visits to Scotland. I have also collected lots more kilts. My life has truly changed beyond recognition during my tenure of membership here.

Yes, with no membership fees belonging here can be expensive, but soooo worthwhile! Congratulations!

Happy anniversary!
As you reflect on a full year at Xmarks, what would you say is your top insight(s) about Highland dress?

Thanks everyone for the kind words. It's been a tough year, but things are looking better!
Alex, congrats to you, too, for coming up on five years. A lot does happen in that time. Growing old is no fun! But, we're still above ground, so that must be a good sign, eh? I wish you and Ann all the best.
Colin, hard to say what sticks in my head as the one thing that I've learned the most about highland wear...really, everything! How about no white hose; differences in sporrans (dress, casual, semi-dress, etc.) Oh, and I've made some really nice friends; some I've gotten to actually meet and, others, around the world, online. What technology does, eh?
Now, if only my new kilt would arrive on my anniversary, 12/8. Oh well, there's Christmas!
