Saying "goodbye" to FlamingoKilts
FlamingoKilts is folding its tent (wings?) and, as of 11/1/11, will no longer exist as a licensed business entity.
We sincerely thank our past customers! It's been great fun but was never more than a hobby business. Personal matters have meant less and less time available for crafting, and the business income really doesn't justify the expense of maintaining a website, minimal advertising, business licenses, etc.
We will fulfill remaining orders, of course, and as part of the new Registered Hobbyist class here at XMarks I will be around for the random one-off project.
So it's goodbye to the business name and website only. You'll still have sydnie7 to kick around Thanks again to those who took a chance on a new vendor, and keep supporting the cottage kilting industry!
Proudly Duncan [maternal], MacDonald and MacDaniel [paternal].

Re: Saying "goodbye" to FlamingoKilts
Flamingo Kilt may be no longer but have no fear, Sydnie will still be with us as our first Registered Hobbyist.
She will still be able to show off the wonderful things she makes and put one item up for sale each month.
Come-on Sydnie, show us what you are currently working on.

Re: Saying "goodbye" to FlamingoKilts
As the owner of two Flamingo Kilts, I am definitely saddened. I have it on good authority (my wife Michele) that the construction of my FKs are very solid. Since there were times when Michele's custom dress making paid the rent, I believe her. And Sydnie is a joy to work with as a customer.
Glad you will still be around as a hobbyist! And I hope and pray your family thives and prospers.

That's sad. Best of wishes.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

Goodbye in the Celebration Zone looks at first sight like a contradiction but we celebrate Sydnie continuing with her projects as a Registered Hobbyist.

Sorry to hear that but your work will remain your work and your legacy. Good for you that you did it.

Re: Saying "goodbye" to FlamingoKilts
Thank you all!
Yes, in part it's a celebration of the fun I had and the great people I met through this venture. Unfortunately this past year has seen my mother's health take a turn, and as primary live-in care-giver I'm just not able to give FlamingoKilts the time and attention it deserves.
As noted, I'll remain as a Registered Hobbyist -- first delivery being a set of saffron garter ties to Seanachie when we meet at the Battlefield Band concert in a few weeks! Drac, I haven't forgotten your beaded kilt pins either (although it's been long enough that you may have lost hope).

Sorry to hear this Sydnie, but at least you are getting to carry on doing what you do for fun.
Best wishes!

Doing something just for fun is more relaxing. I just hope you'll still have enough time to hang around.
