This Sober Kiltie Has 25 years Without Booze Today
Know there are sober kilties on the board and that we have a group or something. For me, today is 25 years without a drink. If you knew me when I was drinking you'd call that a true miracle. Much gratitude to the sober kilties on this board who have helped support my sobriety over the years.
No offense to you social drinkers. Consider yourselves lucky not to be afflicted as some of us are.

There was a point when I couldn't imagine a life without booze. I mean who wouldn't want to drink? Surfing newsgroups I read postings by people like you with decades of sobriety under their belts and they were leading normal, even interesting, lives much to my surprise. Well, one night of embarrassment and one wasted day due to a hangover too many and I decided that maybe there was a alcohol-free future for me too. It's been 5 years of no booze (or fags) and it was the best decision I ever made. Good on you for exercising self-control and showing others what is possible.

Good for you fellow "te-totaler". I quit after 42 years of hard drink and plenty of cheap thrills associated with them. I decided to end the madness for myself on Jan. Friday the 13th, 2012. My goal is to get a Month of Friday the 13th's before I claim a chip. That will be Sept. Friday the 13th, 2025. We all have our goals and mine are a bit more unusual. Life is grand when you have a plan.

While enjoying a dram or two myself, I admire your commitment and fortitude. We all have our demons, and it is a strong man who can face his and spit in its eye. Congratulations.
