It only took me a year. Almost to the week at that.
I am almost to my first year kilted, I bought my first one at the Ren fest last year in Sep., the day of the windstorm. Wore in public first time during the first week of Oct. Ordered second kilt and son's first a week later in time for Halloween. (I went as Mung Daal) followed by kilt 3 in Jan, son's kilt 2 in April....Kilt '4' was a thrifty from SWK, but I think it's dead now. I don't have the skill to even attempt to fix the pleats on it, or the velcro.
