Android / iPad Apps for Whisky Fans & Collectors.

Does anybody use any of the available Apps for either platform? There are several out there that are quite highly rated.

There is a full digital version of Jim Murray's "Whisky Bible", which you can purchase whole or in sections https://market.android.com/details?i...=search_result

Or one called "Whisky Companion" that doesn't include tasting notes, but is quite inexpensive, highly rated, and is a place for storing YOUR notes, collection totals, and tallies of bottles emptied.

The Companion has a free 7 day trial which I've just downloaded. I'll post some thoughts later in the week.

My one big wish would be for an interactive version of Michael Jackson's "Complete Guide to Single Malt Scotch Whisky". But as he's deceased and there are apparently issues between his estate and the publishers of the latest guide (2010) that may never come to pass.

Have not partaken nor investigated the above described apps. I just keep my own collection list on my notepad section of my iPhone and iPad and update as I add or finish bottles. That way when I come across an urge to shop a whisky selection at a liquor store, such as when travelling or hitting the duty free shops, I know what I already have on the shelf. If I finish a bottle that I especially liked I will leave its name on the list and simply append in capital letters NEED MORE after its name.

Ive got ScotchApp on my droid. Not overly exciting, it just list quite a few scotches and gives a description of color, nose, body, palate, finish, score, region, District and % ETOH.
Im sure there are better out there but in a pinch I can refer to this if I find a scotch I might want to try.

I may have to check these apps out. I am especially interested in one that lets me add my notes to existing notes. I recently tried a whisky that was talked about on these forums and was not impressed with it at all. Granted it was not from Scotland, but I would have liked to compare my thoughts on it with those of others. I have to go back and see if the thread can still be resurrected.

ScotchApp was noted as having only general distiller's info and a single set of notes which are applied across the entire spectrum specific offerings from each distiller. I imagine this would be fine to get a basic idea of the character of each label, but wouldn't be much help after you discovered you liked Laphroaig/Glenfiddich/etc.

That's what I'd like as well. I don't know if Jim Murray's App allows for you to add your own notes to his. For a $20 App, there isn't much info about it, and the screen captures are tiny and not very well selected IMO.
