Birthplace of Whisky.. Anniversary and.. reborn!
I thought I should mention that on 1st June, 1494 Friar John Cor 'paid duty on VIII bills of malt wherewith to make Aqua Vitae for King James IV'. This is the earliest written record of what we now know as Scotch Whisky, and it was made at Lindores Abbey, in Fife.
The distillery has not produced whiskey for over half a millennia but its being redeveloped and opening next year - can't wait to get my hands on the 'first' Lindores whisky... truly historic?!
