    Bowmore 1957 Auction

Even my uneducated palette might be able to tell that this "special."
In case you haven't already seen it, I thought those of you Scotch lovers might appreciate this.
    Take a gander...

Agreed. More a note of interest than a reality.

I've been given to understand that past a certain number of years (I've heard 12) there's really not much discernible difference in whiskies.

That is definitely not true (for me, anyway). Maybe somewhere in the 20's there is a flattening of the quality curve. Try these as examples: 12-yr Glenlivet or Glenfiddich vs. their 21-yr counterparts, or 12-yr Auchentoshen or Bowmore vs. their 18-yr brethren. There is a world of difference, though one may not be willing to pay for it. Other examples abound.
I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

Maybe if I ever become one of the country's "1%" I'll be able to afford rare Scotch!

    Oooo nice one!
I have always tempered my killing with respect for the game pursued. I see the animal not only as a target but as a living creature with more freedom than I will ever have. I take that life if I can, with regret as well as joy, and with the sure knowledge that nature's ways of fang and claw or exposure and starvation are a far crueler fate than I bestow. - Fred Bear
