Dalwhinnie
I have never tried Dalwhinnie before, Cragganmore being my favourite. Anyway, today I unexpectedly fell heir to a bottle of 15yo Dalwhinnie. It seemed rude to refuse it. Just had a couple or three glasses, very nice, which surprised me. The bottle has always reinforced my perception that the distillery and therefore the malt, is a bit industrial, I pass Dalwhinnie on a regular basis. The Dalwhinnie and Cragganmore distilleries are not a million miles from each other, but the Dalwhinnie is much more subtle, less smokey, but equally "moreish". Unlike the Cragganmore though, for me its more of a before, than an after dinner drink. Definitely on my "I'll have one of those thank you" list. It's going down well with a bit of Green and Blacks chocolate. The wife wont be too happy when she discovers her bar of chocolate has a bit missing.

One of my two favorite Highland lassies (along with The Dalmore 12). I very much appreciate its smoothness, subtlety and balance. A very pleasant and enjoyable dram indeed.

I put Dalwhinnie in my top three, along with Highland Park 12 and Balvenie DoubleWood. All distinctly different, and all most enjoyable.

I find the colder it is the darker, smokier and peatier I like my dram.
Dalwhinnie I can enjoy in the heat of summer if I am so inclined.

I, too, like Dalwhinnie 15, the distillery being about 8 miles east of the Ardverikie estate - just a short walk, but a longer walk back. Maybe, one day I'll get to make that walk/stumble.
You might also try Cragganmore's port finished malt. It, along with Glenmorangie's (Quinta Ruben) are my favorites in that style.
I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

I haven't had a Dalwhinnie in about 13 years. I'm due for another dram, I'm sure. When I visit St. Andrews in Manhattan, I'll make a point to re-sample a dram.
