Friends of Laphroaig
Anybody else sent off and gotten their certificate of leaseholding?
I bought a bottle of ten year old and there was a pamphlet inside with a code. I went to the website and entered it. I now have a lifetime "lease" on one square foot of ground and am entitled to rents, one dram of Laphroaig to be collected in person.
Seems they've been doing this for a while, there are quite a few folks on the website and a discussion forum. Which brings to mind another question:
Just exactly how large are the distillery grounds? Seems they'd be running out of parcels, with so many claiming one.
I wish I believed in reincarnation. Where's Charles Martel when you need him?

crap, I didn't get a certificate with the bottle I bought a couple months back. I guess I'll have to finish it up and go get a new bottle.

I have mine framed (516371) and hanging on the wall above my sewing machine. It makes me feel "accomplished".

I am the proud holder of the lease to plot 515582. From what I could see, I have a wonderful view;of plots 515581 & 515583.

Re: Friends of Laphroaig
I have been a Friend of Laphroaig for some time now. I have been to the distillery twice since becoming a member and it certainly has it benefits. Both times we were whisked off to a separate tasting room for our own private tasting. Our second visit at actually went out and stood on my plot. While it may seem silly it was actually quite nice as the countryside is amazing and how often dose a Philly boy get to walk through the fields of Scotland with Wellies a foot, a GPS in one hand and a dram in the other.
