    Great recipes

I found recipes here that sound amazing.

Quite an interesting idea on the pickled walnuts, as we have a tree on our property that usually provides a good crop of nuts. I may have to try my hand at it. Has anyone in the rabble had them?

Love them! Great with cold meats, Cheddar type cheese, Brie, Camanbert cheeses. Not so good with "blue " cheeses. Cut the pickled walnut into SMALL pieces to eat! Say into 10ths.

Pick walnuts whilst green and just before the shell hardens. If you can stick a needle through with no resistance then its too soon. Just a wee bit of resistance is just right and if you have to force the needle through, then you are too late.

Yes the website you highlight and the "Field" magazine itself is a great source of information and recipes . A kilt can even be seen there on occasion.

Well, it seems I'm too late to try it this year. I think the shells are starting to form. Marked my calendar for next year.
