    Isle of Jura whisky 'Secret Sample'

    Isle of Jura Whisky recently ran a competition asking what was ‘the secret to a long and prosperous life ?’ and I was lucky enough to win a small secret sample of their new unreleased whisky

    My own philosophic answer was;
    ‘The secret to a long and prosperous life is good company, good music and good whisky !’

    I’ve just sampled the dram with Tanya, (my wife who’s always good company) and can report on this mysterious dram;
    We detected a sweet note with a slight hint of the sea on nosing. The taste was complex, being smooth, soft and warm with a very subtle spiciness. This is definitely a dram I could happily drink for a lifetime

    It’s been a particular pleasure to sample this fine dram as I’ve always been a supporter of the Isle of Jura whisky, which I represent at our Loch Ness Whisky Parliament. I grew up on Jura and I have fond memories of collecting draft from the distillery on cold winter mornings to feed to our cows. My sister and I, along with the farm dogs, perched on top of the trailer load of steaming hot draft being pulled by a smoky old Massey Ferguson 135. The cows would tuck into it like they were having porridge for their breakfast !

    And now we’re onto a dram of Jura Superstition and listening to some good music

    I've tried in when at the St.Andrew's Pub near Times Square, NYC, and have to agree, that is was not only pleasing but memorable!

    I had some Jura at a restaurant once last year. I'm not even sure what bottling it was, I was just thrilled to see Jura on their scotch list. The whisky was delicious, much better (to me) than the Glenlivet I usually drink, and the tasting notes on this are intriguing. I can't wait to try it.

    Jura is the first real single malt I remember liking. It's still one of my favorites. It is great to drink in most situations.
