    Johnny Jump Up

Gaelic Storm does a song about a "pint of Johnny Jump Up." Is this an actual drink or pure fiction? And if there is such a drink, is it yummy?

Johnny Jump Up is a drink made from sweet cider and a shot of Whiskey.

Jack and apple cider I believe.
In my drinking days I would have loved this.

I see...does it taste more like the cider or the whiskey?

If it's mixed properly, you get a "hint" of the whiskey, like you would with a proper Jack and Coke. It's usually served as 1 part Jack Daniels, to 7 or 8 parts cider--about the same ratio of most two-part mixed drinks a bartender will hand you.
The grass is greener on the other side of the fence...and it's usually greenest right above the septic tank.

Does it have to be jack? I'm partial to redbreast. I just don't want to screw up how it should taste.

Pryden does a song about this too on their album Loud Pipes Save Lives. Sounds like an experience to be approached with a long stick and time to recover the next day.
