The Jug And Kilt, Barboursville WV
Anybody been there?
I've been marooned in Southern California for many years, but most of my family is still back in West Virginia. A while back my mom (in Hurricane) sent me a clipping about a new pub opening up in nearby Barboursville, The Jug And Kilt.
The article starts
"The first thing to know about The Jug And Kilt is that the kilts the servers wear, men and women, are real... but the red London phone booth is not."
Here's the article
http://www.wvgazette.com/News/201310290047
and the pub's site
http://www.thejugandkilt.com/
So, tomorrow I fly back to West Virginia (enduring the always-harrowing landing at Chuck Yeager Airport) and I'll definitely swing by this place, kilted! (They say you get a discount if kilted.)
Photos to come...

Looks good, Richard. I would like to try that place. The menu looks inviting, too.

If I lived closer to it, I'd be visiting too!

Richard,
I'm so glad you posted this! It's 30 minutes from where I live. Now, I can kilt up for dinner. Definitely gonna visit.int: BTW, good luck with Yeager. US 64 around Charleston isn't much better so take God with you.

You can say that again! My stepfather, with his 80+ year old reflexes, was too slow to see that all the traffic on US 64 was stopped, and plowed into the first car he came to- a State Trooper!
He wasn't doing much driving after that...
Anyhow glad I was able to help with a heads-up! You're welcome!
I'm not sure when I'll get over to The Jug And Kilt, probably Thursday or Monday.
Saturday I'll be attended the Colonial Highland Games in Fair Hill MD, and the drive each way will eat up most of a day!

Richard, looking forward to the review of the Resturant/Pub and all associated photos.
Be sure to tell the manager that you're posting them to get more kilted patrons to visit.....

...and perhaps you'll get an extra discount!
Looks good, I'd visit if it wasn't on the other side of the world! Looking forward to seeing your photos.
Cheers,
Cameron

Well I did go to the Jug & Kilt!
My sister had The Full Monty, a Monte Cristo sandwich, which was rather different from the battered deep-fried kind they sell at Disneyland. I had the Curry Fries which were very very good! The Curry sauce was perfection. I tried a local IPA from a brewery in Charleston WV (I didn't know any WV IPAs existed) and it was mediocre. I'm a bit spoiled, my wife and I attending craft brew festivals here in California fairly often, and are used to magnificent local IPAs. They had a fairly good selection of craft beers and Scottish single malts.
Overall an impressive pub for West Virginia!
Since I was wearing a kilt we got a 10% discount on our bill.
Here I am with our server. Since we're in the Bible Belt there's no skimpy outfit like the Tilted Kilt!

You know Chuck Yeager was most famous for the planes he didn't land.
I'm just trying to be the person my dog thinks I am.
