Opinions of Pumpkin ale...
I'm always on the lookout for interesting microbrews. I can't say I've ever had a bona fide Pumpkin Ale before --- any recommendations or opinions?
Cheers,
Todd

Actually, I had my first one two nights ago. Dogfish head Punkin Ale. I was expecting it to taste like a pumpkin pie, but thankfully it didn't. It was a nice brown ale with some warm spice. Certainly not a "session" beer, but I would order it again.

I'll second the Dogfish Head Punkin Ale . Harvest Moon from Blue Moon Brewing is pretty good too.

Same here. We usually have a few pumpkin ales featured at the annual beer festival, and they tend to go quickly, but I'm not a big fan.

PUMPKIN ale tastes better if you get it right from the DOGFISH HEAD PUB in Rehoboth Delaware.

That might be a bit of a trip from the Midwest.
Thankfully, Schlafly in St. Louis has one as a seasonal...and we can get their brews here.
Has anyone ever had the Ichabod Pumpkin Ale from New Holland Brewing Co. in Michigan?

Actually, I believe they intentionally named their pumpkin ale as "Punkin."

I have brew the ale with both pumpkin and just pumpkin spices, I do have to say the spices is not only easier to make it has the perfect amount of taste to be enjoyed.
