Highland Council planning officials had recommended approval for the planned Adelphi Distillery at Glenbeg in Ardnamurchan. The proposals also include warehousing and a visitor centre. The planning application received 105 letters of support and 52 from objectors. To be called the Ardnamurchan Distillery, it would employ 10 people.

Very interesting thank you. It must be quite an undertaking to start a new distillery. I don't know anything about the company structures, shareholders or financial backing of Adelphi but they give a strong impression of being an independent which I think is a good thing in the Whisky industry; it seems to give far more freedom to flexibility and innovation... if Bruichladdich is anything to do by. Although by the sound of it, it is likely to be quite a different undertaking (brand new equipment as opposed to the Victorian equipment at Bruicladdich).
Good news....maybe with even more competition, the price of Scotch will go down?
