Scottish Pub in Manhattan (St. Andrews is Gone!)

So, my favorite Manhattan hang-out for scotch, cock-a-leekie soup, and a trout, being the St. Andrews Pub & Restaurant, no longer is - It has ceased to be.

So, I see that on 2nd and 83rd, there is the Caledonia Bar. I can read reviews online from those I don't know, or I can read them from kiltie-cauld bums here, whom I also don't know. I pick you.

Never been to a Scottish pub in the city. I used to go to McSorley's years ago. It's been over 25 years though. Lots of Irish stuff in the city. The Landmark Tavern is another place we used to go. I'll like to hear about any Scottish places though.

I was there at the Caledonia a while back (May 2016?). Nice and relaxed, a bit more "pub" and much smaller than St Andrews. Good whisky selection and friendly guy behind the bar. I liked it.

Adding: I see they have one upper east side and upper west side. I was upper east side. I also remember the food as pretty good pub fare.

St. Andrew's closed right after Tartan Week last year. I was there after the parade and they were announcing they would close that week.

If I remember the same owners had some other pubs, one was The Long Room. I know one was up in the 90's (German Yorktown) but I don't think that one is there anymore and I forget the name.

There is another place, I have not been to called Highlands down in Greenwich Village. I have never been there but they get good reviews and are serving a Burn's Dinner.

There is also Deacon Brodie's which is a small pub, cool place but not sure if they even serve food.

Ah, thanks! Yes, The Long Room is owned by the same owners as St. Andrews. As a matter of fact, St. Andrews used to be located where the Long Room is located now on 44th St. I've been a patron of St. Andrews for about 20 years whenever I would come to Manhattan for business. Now, it will be another place. I have also frequented some Irish-themed bars, such as Jameson's on 2nd Avenue near 52nd St., as Midtown is where I usually stay for my extended period. For several years now, I have been also going to The Press Box, also on 2nd Ave near 50th. The food is good, and the Irish bartender, Eddie, is quite insulting.
