Traditional Scottish food recipes
Since this forum also covers food as well as drink, I figured this should go here (and didn't see it posted already - I apologize if I missed it).
http://www.fife.50megs.com/scottish-cooking.htm
That page is chock-full of recipes for Scottish traditional dishes and even a few drinks as well. I've been experimenting with some of them - I love to cook - and have really been enjoying it.

Just wait till you try Cranachan if you haven't already done so. It is both food and drink of Scotland. Despite living in England now I stil have bowl of porridge most winter mornings, made with water only and taken with salt as my mother used to make it. You can't beat it.

I made the Cranachan a week or so ago. I couldn't get double cream over here, but the layers of freshly whipped cream, berries, oats and homemade shortbread were a huge hit.

I haven't tried the Cranachan yet, but it does look very good.
I eat a bowl of parritch every morning for breakfast at 6:00am. Oats, water, salt. If it's a particularly cold morning, I'll treat myself by putting some butter and heavy cream in it... it's wonderful. I do believe the Scots got it right when it came to their daily bowl of oatmeal parritch. Unlike other breakfast foods, for some reason oatmeal "sticks to yer ribs", and I'm not hungry at all until it's time for the mid-day meal.
Occasionally on weekend mornings when I have plenty of time, I like to make the Ardentinny drop bannocks. Basically, a thick oatmeal pancake served with butter and honey. It's an excellent breakfast with dark coffee.
What's your favourite stovies recipe ?
When it comes to stovies, my wife always makes it with whatever she has on hand, so I don't know that she ever follows a recipe. Usually, though, she slices potatoes about 3/16" thick and pan-fries them with onions in a bit of leftover bacon grease. She usually adds plenty of black pepper and garlic salt. Then when the potatoes and onions are turning a nice golden brown, she adds some leftover venison (either ground venison or cutlets), lets it cook till the meat is browned, and it's done. I love the stuff.
One of my favorite relaxing hobbies is to bake bread, and I've been dying to try the Black bun recipe.
