    Another Tartan on the Loom

I finally started weaving another tartan...hopefully to become the kilt I wear with my SAMS uniform.

Kilt fabric isn't the easiest to weave, but I rather enjoy it.

That is going to make a fine kilt for your SAM uniform. I do enjoy your projects.

This looks like the Kilgore tartan, except white for yellow.

I wish I had your abilities, and a loom would be helpful too!

To stitch up a kilt from tartan you wove yourself has to be amazing.....

You do absolutely beautiful work, and the photography isn't bad either!

Yes, this is the Kilgore, or Kilgour, tartan. That is yellow, it just looks white in those photos.

Kilgores from my ancestry fought at the Battle of Kings Mountain, which has particular significance to the SAMS heraldry.

Steve, here are the photos you asked for.

Do you want me to email you some in higher resolution with more detail?

The top beam is AVL's new half-yard sectional beam. I added the screws seen on the top pin bar, for the extension chords.
The bottom beam is AVL's old (from the 80's) half-yard sectional beam.
I take the crank handles off so they don't bounce while beating. I've sheared a few crank-handle bolts from the bouncing.

While i have no idea how this thing works, the woodworker in me thinks it would be a blast to build. Amazing project by the way.
