    Balmoral for McLeod

    Brian Kodak.jpg
A man from the McLeod clan came to work on the house. He's another loyal client of USA Kilts. I gave him two of the bonnets I made, this one for his muted McLeod kilt, and a pale green one for his lady friend.
I never met him before, yet it seems I made the bonnet just for him.

As I have expected (and observed over the years) XMark members are the best associates I have. Thank you (on his and his lady's) behalf.

Is that knitted or crocheted? If crochet is there a pattern available for it, would love to have my wife make me one as winter approaches.

    Knitted

It is knitted. Some genius needs to convert the pattern for crochet. I am sure that's possible.
I used Anne Carroll Gilmour's pattern, available on Ravelry.com. The bonnet is knitted loosely, to three times the finished size. It is then fulled, using agitation together with thermal shock from alternating hot and cold water, then hand-shaped and left to air dry. I finish the bonnets with waistband elastic on the underside of the brim, and edge it with either satin or cotton double-fold bias binding.
