    Can't find fabric

I went to 3 (three) fabric stores last night. I couldn't find any fabric that was remotely like what I would make a kilt out of. I found some bull denim, but it was Black, Brown, and a bunch of crazy colors, and very light. The only thing remotely heavy enough was Duck Cloth in various colors - but 100% cotton.

Is there an online source for maybe some 65/35 cotton/poly in a decent weight? Maybe 12+oz.? I've got a good source for camo, but I need some solids and maybe some plaids to practice with once my book by Barb T. comes in.

    Thanks!

For some poly/cotton twill. I've got some black that seems like it'll be good for an x-kilt.

No problem. And so you know, most retail fabric stores won't discount this fabric for some reason. I was in Joann's last week and they were having a sale on everything but the poly/cotton twill. When I asked why not, the lady said that they just "never" do. The same was said at Hancock Fabrics too. So, the dollar saved here looks pretty good depending on how much you'll order (when you figure in shipping and/or tax).

Yeah, I went to those two places as well. All they seemed to have in poly/cotton was shirt weight or lighter type stuff. This place will cure my needs for now I believe.

But Joanne's coupons are typically good on non-sale items, so you could have had it for 40-50% off! (coupons posted here recently, good in June, not sure if any extend into July. . . don't you just hate it when that happens?) I think the coupons were linked in Jay's thread about knitting flashes, but don't hold me to it.

I get them in the mail all the time. Problem is the Joann's by my house doesn't carry any poly/cotton twills in a heavy weight.

The Scottish Weaver is the USA outlet for Fraser and Kirkbright
    http://www.wooltartan.com/

F&K won't sell their "regular" tartans to USA cits, but they WILL sell their "remnants".

Well that's a little selfish, no?

Haha... Thanks, that's another good link.

I have ordered olive fabric from them for a kilt before. Look at the poly/cotton twill. It is a good heavy weight material.
