    Clan Crest/Tartan pens

Not totally sure if I have the whole posting pics thing right, but we'll give it a try.

These are a couple of pens I made for myself. One is a click pen for daily use and the other is a rollerball for dressier occasions. Both pens have depictions of the Gunn clan crest and the Gunn Ancient tartan.

I also made a clicker in County Tipperary for a fella I work with.

Not that my stuff is in the same CLASS as what I've seen posted on here by you guys, but I'm happy with them!

    Thanks for looking! Lee

Very neat! How did you make them, if I may ask?

...and what is the cost for one of them?

    Happy to Matt!

Its a printed image of the tartan wrapped around the liner all pens have, which allows free movement of the mechanism within. I then cast that in clear acrylic using a silicone mold and a pressure pot, then turn it down on my lathe to fit the components of the selected pen.

I tried several different ways to use actual wool tartan, silk tartan, or tartan ribbon, but they all ended up too thick or too dark/discolored, so I was reduced to using an image. But, hey, it meant any image could be used, which opened a whole world of possibilities for me! Which I've enjoyed immensely!

Piperdbh, I'm not sure I can answer your question without violating a forum rule or two. Sorry! I really like this place and I'd hate to get the boot!

Lee - Do not put yourself down! These are excellent! I think that there is a market for them. Birthdays, Christmas, Presentations, just to have. I think you should speak to Matt or Steve.

    Regards

    Chas

I was thinking the same thing Chas.

I like giving members business first if I can.
