corduroy argyll and waistcoat, plus leaf hose
A while back Bugbear posted a thread asking about corduroy Argyll jackets, which got me to wondering, "Hmmm, what if I just up and made myself one of them?" and the answer came back, "That would be the thing for you to do." So, after a trip or two to the fabric store, here 'tis.

I used the Simplicity 5029 pattern, which I found on ebay. I lined it with a chocolate-brown crepe-backed satin I found at the Wal-Mart's, and the buttons are hearts with interlocking knotwork, which, since I'm a member of the clan Lockhart, I've interpolated to be "locked-heart" buttons. Very punny.
Uninhabited:

The picture is a little blurry because I had the lens zoomed in too close.
Le cuff:

Le pocket flap, showing the "lock h(e)art" buttons. The braid I used is cotton clothesline. I pulled the nylon core out of the clothesline, then dyed it tan with some strong coffee.

Le epaulette:

Le waistcoat:

The hose I'm wearing are my "falling leaves" hose. I made them two autumns ago, but have only worn them a time or two. Here's a close-up:

Thanks for looking!

That is AWESOME! Looks great, I'd be proud to wear that. You did a wonderful job and if you ever decide to make some to sell let me know.
Somebody ought to.

Thanks, Guinness.
I showed the fabric lady at Wal-Mart's a jacket I made from fabric which she had sold me. She asked if I take orders, and I told her that my wife gives me orders all the time.

Congratulations.
The corduroy argyle and waistcoat were the idea and suggestions of MacMillan of Rathdown, to me.
I will continue to read the comments.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

Very creative! And I think the buttons are an especially nice touch, considering your rationale for making use of them. Nicely done! (I have been on the lookout myself for a used cordoroy jacket and vest to convert. Now I know I'm on the right track...)

WOW! First off, those hose are amazing. I love the contrast to the braided cotton to the rest of the jacket.
