A couple of Sgian Dubhs
Hi, This is my first post here.
My Daughter is soon to be wed. She and her fiance are very proud of their Celtic heritage. We're of Scot-Irish-Welsh decent. My soon to be Son in Law is Scot on both sides.
They want the wedding to be of a Celtic theme. I have been instructed that I am to wear a kilt if I intend to give the bride away, it is on order.
My future Son in Law was looking for a Sgian Dubh, but after purchasing his wedding kilt decided that he couldn't afford a nice one, and settled on one of the cheap knock-offs. I do custom rifle stock work, and decided to make him a presentable Sgian Dubh as a wedding gift , as well as a way of welcoming him to our family. He's a great guy, and worthy of the effort. My Daughter couldn't have found anyone better, IMO.
The research on these knives has opened up a whole new interest in my own Celtic heritage. I have joined The Scot forum, and as of today, this very interesting forum. I hope I am able to contribute something of use. If not, it is still very informative and interesting, and I intend to lurk.
The first two photos are of the one I made for, and presented to him.
The following three photos are of the one I decided to make for myself. The blades are inexpensive variations I found on-line , the handle is made from Ebony, White Ebony, Water Buffalo horn and German Silver.
Mine is made from an Elk Antler Tyne, Water Buffalo horn and German silver.

Those are not presentable they are outstanding. I wish I could afford to ask if you did custom orders. Since I retired do you think I could get my wife to work to pay for my kilt habit?
If you keep showing work of this quality you will be contributing a whole lot.

Welcome from Missouri, your work is quite a craft. You should be proud.
