Denim hybrid box pleat with interior cargo pockets
So I wear a kilt everyday. I wear it to work(stone mason), lounging at home, or out on the town. I've tried a few different styles, and my favourite isn't one particular kilt, but elements of all of them. And since I don't have the extra cash to get a bunch custom made, I decided to try my hand at one.
This kilt is denim and cotton/synthetic blend.-I know, I know, but this is machine washable and dryer friendly.
The pleats are 2inches denim with 8inches of 'tartan'(2"/4"/2") for a nice swish and double pleats for each apron.
The pleats edges are sewn down so there's no real need to iron or press it
Cargo pockets on each side with pockets inside the kilt instead of hanging on the outside.
A 12 inch tapered apron (1/3 waist) a blend of utility kilt and more traditional.
And it's tapered from the seat(36) to my waist(33) with the pleats sewn down for the top 1/3.
A bit of a mixed bag, but I think it turned out really nicely.
Any tips/pointers/advice would be appreciated. And if I messed something up, please let me know lol.

Welcome to the addction that is making kilts...it is worse than heroin. You may find four inches in a pleat a bit much...or at least I do...all tue self color box pleat kilts I have made have been with three inch wide pleats with good results.
Keep fooling with it...you will find the combination that works for you.

3 inches at the front or the back?
I did 2 inches of denim for the front, and in the back was the 4
So 2 denim front/outside
2/\2 'tartan'
-4- 'tartan' back/inside
I tried to attach pictures but I don't think it worked, so I tried to post a few again, hopefully it works. Picture's worth a thousand words ands all that

Not much for denim but the overall look is pretty good and looks well thought out and put together.

Right now all I have is my Utility Kilt, I like to dress up when I wear. My Clan Farquharson should be here in another couple of weeks. The next one will be the Clan Fraser of Lovat (Mum's Family Name). Eventually I want to get a Hybrid Kilt like you have, but not of Denim but of a Dark Fabric with the Clan Farquharson Tartan in the Pleats.
Your Kilt looks great,
Bill...
