Found a cast 4140 blade on a muzzleloading/reenacting supply site. Had an antler crown in the garage and some oil-tan in my leather scrap stash. The thistle medallion was embedded in the plastic handle of a cheapo. Fifteen bucks and about five hours. Edit: Tweaked the pic a bit to better show that blade texture.

I am impressed! Well done, David. Regards Chas
Hey, that's a sweet little blade ya got there. Looks functional, too, am I right? Edit: To keep the thread on topic, could you PM me the supply site you got the blade from?

Thanks, Steve and will do. It's hard steel. It required some bench grinder work to remove casting tabs and seams and to put a rough edge on it. It was slow work because when it heated up, the grinder wouldn't touch it.
Another great looking sgian dubh on this site Sweet!!!!
Looks great
I love that blade! Could you post a link to the supplier or PM it to me?

Fantastic! Looks like I need to collect some bits and get fabricating!
