Don't be tricked by other Xmarkers into buying an MOD sporran cantle!
So, caught up in some madness on this forum a month or two back, I got hold of this:

Which scrubbed up into this:

My midlife crisis hasn't involved fast cars and loose women, but I did get hold of this bad boy a couple of weeks ago (94 year old, Singer 128k hand crank; sews leather, aluminium and hands with ease - no plastic was harmed during the making of this machine ):

Which finally resulted in this:

Phew! (a bit of advice from Scott needed, of course - cheers mate). One with tassels next, I think?

What a great job you did on the cantle and and bag StevieR, congratulations. It's great to see someone have a crack at a project and the result so pleasing. Cheers

Cheers Simon. Very much trial and error though. Fortunately, leather is very forgiving - which is just as well as the bag was deconstructed two or three times! Practice makes perfect, so another one will be on the go soon. The really big plus is being able to muck about with a big chunk of metal!!

Wow - very nice indeed - and that sewing machine - it looks to be the same era as the one which came from my grandmother, though that was treadle powered. It was a lovely device and could sew anything.

Beautiful. I see those old singers all the time at garage sales. Had no idea they can handle leather....what's the thickest you have sewn ?
