    A dress for my mother.

    We have some sort of Celtic festival coming up, and my mother wants to dress up. After going shopping and realizing she was going to be about $70 into an outfit that would be both costume, and only worn once, we decided to not make what was planned. Instead, we came away for less than $15 all together (less than the pattern of the original plan) and I managed to come up with something inspired by the original pattern we were going to use, and hopefully, she can wear it more than once. Incidentally, the ribbon may be a bit hard to see, but it is a tartan pattern (woven, surprisingly) that is identical to the sash, and the kilt I will be wearing. It is7/8in. wide and is available at wal-mart, simply called 'fashion plaid 5' (Similar to Royal Modern Stewart, but swap the blue for more red). So without further ado;

    and
    .

    Both dresses are from the salvation army thrift store, and have been altered by yours truly. Never thought I'd dig out my hammer while sewing. Eyelets are cool.

    I bet your Mom will look smashing in that.
    Lang may your lum reek and a wee mouse never leaves your cupboard with a tear in its eye.

    Very nice looking. My mother-in-law has been looking for an idea for a new dress to wear when she goes somewhere that my father-in-law wears his kilt. I have a feeling that this idea should supply suitable inspiration to her.
