Easy to make knitted garter ties.
So, for a few years now I've been making my own knitted garter ties. (They're really simple and involve nothing but the knit stitch. You can use almost any yarn and needles and you can chat or watch tv while you knit them.)
I finally posted the 'pattern' on Ravelry and on my blog.
I made some in Navy Blue and some in a Dark Sage Green since I'd completely run out. (The last load I made got worn almost daily for three years and after two pairs went missing the last pair finally wore out.)
I'm planning to make a maroon pair, a red pair, a yellow pair, a gray pair and a light blue pair.
Here are a few pictures. There's a video on the blog for the simplest way to tie them for anyone who doesn't know how and hasn't checked out Matt's video.

Arlen,
If you want to post the video, or at least a link to the video, in the tutorials section I bet other members would appreciate it

Thank you, thank you, sir! I've been meaning to start knitting again and this is PERFECT for my first new project. I hope you don't mind a question or two if I have them as I move along.
Thanks again!

I purchased a couple of pairs of these hose from Matt at STM, I went to get a link to them for you and it apears there either isnt any in stock at the moment or he no longer carries them.

Terry, yes, I did design and knit Arlen's kilt hose. Probably ought to make another pair before he wears the feet out of them!

Actually, the blue hose are hose that my wife Diane designed and made for me some years ago. The pattern is for sale on her Etsy/Ravelry/Blog.
The second pair (The green ones) are a pair that were sent to me as an anonymous gift from someone on Xmarks. They are a standard pair of hacking hose/shooting socks and are available through many shops. The cheapest I have found are through an English seller on Ebay.
