First Attempt at a Kilt Pin - Wooden Hare
I wanted something a bit more unique than the ubiquitous claymore kilt pin. I've always been fond of rabbits and thought I'd look for a rabbit or hare kilt pin. After about 15 minutes of Googling I came back empty handed and decided I would just have to do it myself (on that note, if you happen to know where I could find one please drop me a PM). I had a small piece of 3/8" Osage Orange collecting dust in the garage - after a couple evenings of toying around with it, I ended up with this:

And here it is on my Black Watch (I have a few pets, as my kilt can attest to)

I'm rather pleased with how it came out - it has a Pict-esque look that I am really liking. I have some Purple Heart on the same shelf that I'm eyeballing now, just need to find some inspiration.

Nice...I too find the ubiquitous claymore a bit boring.

Good looking pin. Osage is one of those plants I learned about in Forestry school and use sometimes as a hobby wood.
A tidbit, there are other regional common names for the Osage Orange tree; some available are, Horse apples, Bowdock and Bo-de-ark. If you see the tree and fruit (as umrpatti can confirm) you would understand the odd nature of the name variation.

Very nice, I've been toying with the idea of a Celtic knot in purple heart and cherry. Good to see a fellow woodworker.

I like it! It shows nicely against your kilt as well.
