Hand sewn kilt

Hello everyone,
so I finished my first real kilt. I said real kilt, because I made one by machine with fabric I got as a present . This was my real first one. But this time I wanted to do it right.

I odered fabric (13 oz.), Tartan Roxburgh Red muted, and started sewing. Except two hems in the linings every stitch was done by hand, stitch by stitch. Even the interlining (canvas) was fixed by hand. I don't know anymore how Long it took me, but I think it must have been two month or something like that. I wore it for the first time with my mother in law who took nice Pictures. This is me wearing my kilt.

And from the bac - my kilt is pleated to the stripe:

As the tartan has prominent White stripe I Chose this one. It gives an interesting effect when I walk.

thanks a lot for your nice comments.
@Steve Ashton: Yes, I used "The Art of Kiltmaking" by Elsie Stuehmeyer and Barbara Tewksbury. The authors explain every step of the process in detail. If you follow their instructions you can't go wrong. But conventional sewing experience also helps.

Sewing is a way to express your creativity and Hand sewing is a challenge, but it is also fun.
When I walk through Munich in my kilt People look at me, I can feel it and sometimes I see it. Some women smile, I think they like it.
As I said, this is my first real kilt projet. I plan to make some more. I've got the fabric for the next one already in my drawer. Maybe after that I will make another one. I will see. But I am far away from the experience of a real and professional kiltmaker.
