    Help in expanding belt

Some fifteen years ago I made this kilt belt. Wellllll, I never thought I'd be expanding yet this no longer fits and I need to add about four inches. I was bad and didn't make it adjustable. I hate the kilt belts that narrow and are have a buckle on the inside of the belt. Other then making a new belt, I'm open to suggestions on how to add to this and save the belt.

The badge is my own armiger's badge. Just an FYI.

Reading through the various posts posted it seems the thought is not to have too lavish a belt. Personally I never thought about it. I posted the entire belt and ask for opinions. To garish? Okay? etc.

    Re: Help in expanding belt

Man... That's a superb tooling and dying job, sir!

It's not my style to wear something as ornate as that, but I certainly see nothing wrong with it for anyone who's style is less simplistic than my own.

As to expanding it, I think you're SOL.

The experts should weigh in soon, so we'll see what they have to say.

EDIT: If you space out the picture links such that they are on lines by themselves, it will not make the screen two or three times as wide as it should be. You might think of editing your original post, sir.

You could find the center of the back and split it there and insert a piece with your motto worked on it or maybe another complementing design.

Or do the same at several points along the belt, with smaller inserts. Funny, I thought of that as soon as I read Ryan's advice to "space out the picture links such that they are on lines by themselves. . ." At first read, I thought he was talking about "spacing out" the designs on the belt

There appears to be an almost vertical line at certain points in the design -- might be a good place to split and insert. If the belt is purely decorative vs. helping to hold up an ill-fitting kilt, you could insert short lengths of chain, or braided leather, etc. rather than trying to match up the width and thickness of original belt blank. Might be adding too much to an already ornate design. . .
