Hot off the workbench
Several months ago I picked up a Morgan silver dollar medallion at a hobby store with the idea that it might make a nice centerpiece for a sporran. It eventually disappeared in the chaos of my "parts boxes". In the meantime, I began looking at sporrans for semi-dress and less casual day wear. I had not bought one because I was unwilling to spend $50 on trash and unable to spend $300 on quality. I had decided that I would prefer a well-made "hunting" sporran, and studied many online photos of them, downloading one piece of art that I really liked.
Fast forward to yesterday when I had the epiphany that I had all the materials necessary on hand to build what I wanted -- a nice doeskin hide, black dye, the medallion, rivets, etc..
The result is below. My "take" on the hunting sporran style, with a couple of non-standard personal touches.

Wow! Looks great to me! Do you have a better picture of just the medallion?
Somebody ought to.

That looks brilliant. Can't wait to get started on making on of my own when I have finished the next two kilts.

I face that dilemma often, but usually end up in the fetal position, pistoning my little legs in despair. I prefer your approach.
Very nice work, sir!
