I did a new sporran over thanksgiving
I had a new image in my head and thought it turned out fairly well for the sporran._DSC5602a800.jpg_DSC5495a800.jpg I've got another one in the blocks and should be done in a few days.

I wish that I knew how to work with leather well enough to be able to make nice things like sporrans. Right now I am wanting to get a Rob Roy kind of sporran (something similar that looks nice and has some room for my daily carry items) because the regular ones I have just don't have much space.
Want I really want is to try to find some leather that I could make into a sporran myself, but I lack skills and tools.
Any way, all of that aside, your sporran looks great.

I have said before that I love knotwork patterns. Yours at the top of this project is particularly interesting. Keep up the good work.

The one I am finishing is a rob roy. They are a lot easier to make than these especially after I found a pattern online.

Could you perhaps PM me the pattern? I would love trying my hand at it.

Not a problem, take as much time as you need

I tried to PM this

I tried to PM you but it would only allow me to add pictures from an URL. These are on my computer. The bag is pretty easy. cut out two and place them back to back. _DSC5718a800.jpg_DSC5721a800.jpg You either glue them together with leather glue or sew them. With thin leather you can either use regular thread or leather. Remember to place them inside out so when they are sewn up you turn them right side out and it hides the glue or the thread. _DSC5641a800.jpg you will notice I put in metal holes to guide the strings. I didn't mark them on the pattern. I have put different numbers in on different sporrans 6-10. The picture here has nine, both strings end through one hole. You'll need a piece in front to lock down the flap. _DSC5719a800.jpgyou can either sew it down or glue it or both. _DSC5716a800.jpg the back of the flap has two cuts on it for the belt. I used rivets, thread and glue to place it on the bag. _DSC5726a800.jpg. Doing it this way does make the buckle get in the way alittle bit. I find shoe strings for boots work best as the tie. I got bolo tie tips for them. Hope this helps. If you have questions feel free to ask. There are also alot of people here who can probably also give you better advise. I'm still learning with each bag.

Thanks, I'll have to take a look when I'm on my computer, but this looks simple enough.
