    . . . and I will call him Harry.

    Not really.

Finally got up the nerve to attempt a sporran using a long-haired critter. I've got a few leather, rabbit, and cow hair sporrans under my belt (on my sporran belt?), but hesitated to try something like this red fox for fear of making an expensive mistake. Then I saw a pelt at a recent gun show and couldn't resist any longer. It was that or it would end up as some would-be mountain man's hat.

It was a bit of a challenge and took about 3-times longer than my other efforts—measure 6 times and cut once. But, I think it was worth it.

VERY nicely turned out- great braiding, stitching, and overall proportions. Beautiful pelt as well.

And I commend you on your care in cutting into an expensive fur. Even after all the ones I've done it still makes me nervous.

As a German buddy of mine jokes- "I've cut this damned thing three times and it's STILL too short!"

If the fox is Harry, was the rabbit ... George?

Wow! I'd wear it in a heartbeat! That is one handsome sporran, especially with the fur flap.
