Just stitches away....
Grrrrrr!!!!!
just stitches away from finishing the project I've been working on, and my only needle for my sewing machine bends. I'm working on a knife pleated kilt made out of about 5 yards of some cammo material I picked up a while back. I was going to sew it up months ago, but my moms sewing machine broke so I had to go out and buy my own. Anyways, this past week I found a bit of spare time to start and nearly finish my project, and my last needle bends on me when I'm sewing on the bottom of my back pocket. I've since decided to add a couple more belt loops to the front apron and maybe stitch the inside of the over apron pleat, but other than that the darn thing is done. I'm literally 10 minutes from completion, and haven't had the time to go get any new needles. Oh well. Anyways, I'll post a few pictures when its all done. This ones turned out fairly well; well better than my first attempt with the x-kilt a while back anyway.
For my next attempt I'm going to try hand sewing a 4 yard box pleated kilt out of some light green wool tweed I scored on ebay a while back. I've read Barbs book, but it doesn't cover box pleating, so I may be back asking for a little help when I start that project.

Ah - that is a real pain - but the moral is never have just one needle for the machine.
They do wear out, you really should change them fairly regularly so you are sewing with the best possible needle for the job.
EBay can supply many things for your sewing - and packs of needles are freely available, they put them in envelopes which are delivered to your door, so you need never be unable to complete a project - and they come in assorted sizes and varieties, for different weights of cloth so you can use a big sturdy one for the tough jobs and a daintier one for the finer stuffs.
I have bought all sorts of useful haberda - er - sewing stuff from eBay shops - tape, fasteners, buckles - as well as thread for the overlocker (serger) and it is usually quick and not to expensive - though you need to watch out for sellers with high charges for posting. I think they put a cheap price for the item and then make up the price they actually want on the postage charge.

That stinks... you'll have to provide some pictures when you're finished.

I'm going to pick some up today and get this thing finished. I have some running around to do and stuff., I'll probably start the next kilt today as well. I'm also scored a nice piece of Drummond of Perth tartan off ebay a while back, which is destined to become 2 4 yard box pleated kilts, on for me, and one for my dad. I'm not sure if I'll be the one making them, or if it will be the handiwork of one of our pros. It depends on how I do with this piece of green tweed

I'm sure you can score sewing machine needles in Lihue, somewhere.

Actually I picked up a pack at walmart this morning. So I'll be finishing it up this afternoon and then I'll post some pics shortly there after.
