Knitted garter ties
Following the instructions posted by Arlen on this board, I knitted up a whole bunch of garter ties.
I only did them 4 or 5 loops due the thickness of the yarns and I especially loved working with some of the shaggier stuff.
My husband, Mickey (also my model) especially likes this pair made from a blend I found of 70% acrylic and 30% alpaca. I had left the ends long and shaggy so that he could cut them to the length he preferred, but he says he likes them extra long and rustic just the way they are.

They look good... both the shaggy wool and the ends...

Very nice, but in truth, I think they are a tad long.

Garter ties look very nice, though I would choose shorter; but there is a problem with the hanging of the kilt front apron!
If you are going to do it, do it in a kilt!

When I was a kid it was "you need a haircut".
Now it's "your garters are too long"... somethings really don't change!
Okay, so they are a bit long. I really like them like this, but I'll tell ya what. I'll keep my long ones for shlepping about the house but if I go out in public, I'll make sure to wear trimmed down ones! I really like this alpaca yarn a lot. They are a little thick so they bulge a bit under thinner hose (as you can see), but very comfortable. She's been making them in all colors of the rainbow so I won't be hurting for ties no matter what I wear.
And yeah, when I hiked up the kilt a bit for the pics, I didn't really check the lines, but this was all about my gams anyway

I think they may be a touch on the long side myself, but considering some of the outfits I've worn in public ...well, I just left it up to the wearer to decide how he wants them.
I did think the shaggier and softer yarns like this one or the 22% wool 50% acrylic and 28% nylon blend called Angel Hair were the most fun to work with and produced the best results (with my meager skills anyway ).

I'll agree with TurboKittie on that point. In retrospect not sure I had any right to post on this thread. Anyone in my family would tell you that fashion sense does not form part of my make up. I go with comfort which is why I love my kilts.
If you are going to do it, do it in a kilt!
