    MacPherson Flashes

So I wanted to make some matching flashes for my kilt. Here is how I made them.

First I took some of the extra material that I cut from the pleated section around the waist. Here is a picture of the strips:

    sewing the front and back

I then took the two strips and sewed them together, by hand, with an edge stitch.

be sure to leave the bottom open for the tapering and fringing.

I then trimmed the end with a 90 degree wedge out of the middle:

notice that I trimmed the shorter, top, flash a little shorter than the under flash.

I then stripped the additional threads up to the stitching on the top flash. The under flash, I fringed up to the bottom of the cutout of the top flash. I felt this would give the top flash some body and structure.

more to follow, the attaching to the straps.

Fringed flashes sounds like it would look pretty good. Can you get a more focused picture?
