My first kilt!
After thinking about this for a long time, I finally got the nerve and made myself an X-kilt. For a while I wanted to know what it would be like to wear a kilt. But since I'm too cheap to buy one, I figured I would make one myself. After some googling around, I found this site and the pattern/description of the X-Kilt. I have never attempted anything like this on a sewing machine before. But I'm glad i tried, cause I think it came out wonderful. And I'm a lot more confident about my sewing abilities because of this project. Two changes to the original design, both inspired by Farlander. I made the extra pleads in the front, and the bigger pockets. The fabric came from Joanne and works well I think. To make the waistband sewing easier on the machine I used 'stitch in the ditch' for sewing the back of the waistband. Highly recommended.

That's one big "well done"! There's nothing like the satisfaction of a successful attempt at something you've never done before.
Seattle is up in that top left-hand corner of the continental 48, isn't it?
You've got Steve, the forum owner and proprietor of Freedom Kilts, just over the border in BC, and member Okiwen, another who makes his own kilts, up in that neck of the woods. I bet they're applauding too, and would likely be happy to field queries you may have.

First off, Welcome to Xmarksthescot!
I am always a bit envious of members who can make any part of their own kit. Great job and wear it well!
Slainte,
Nick

Yes, I'm somewhat afraid of that. It's probably a good thing that I can't find a lot of decent fabric.
