Nice carving and very nice dirk. How about some more information on how you made it, blade source, etc?

Nice piece of work. Do you get your steel from the local factories there

In this case I used a very common blade as it´s offered by companies like CrazyCrow or Track-of-the-wolf. It´s a carbon steel blade of decent quality, comparable to c6o that correlates to 1060 in the USA, I think.
Those blades are a great alternative to my self made blades, although I have to reshape them a little bit, because I like my dirks to follow the shape of jacobean dirks.
The handle is cocobolo with brass, treated with linseed oil after carving.
length of the blade is 12´, blade width 1 1/2´, total length 16 1/2´.
Regards
Thomas

Really nice work,my carving leaves much to be desired
I like the way that you reshaped the blade
did you retemper it also or leave as is?

Thanks a lot for your kind comments. I appreciate that.
@ Joe- One of my requirements concerning a dirk is that it has to be fully functional. So a new heat treatment after reshaping it is a "must".

Scottish Heritage magazine
I had to wait all day to see your work, but it was well worth the wait. That is a very nice dirk, I was just reading an article in Scottish Heritage magazine about dirks, and yours is superbly carved.
