    A new forging project....

So I got bored today and busted out hammer and torch. Now normally I do a step by step on projects, but this one I just banged right out. Started wih a piece of square stock and a small scrap of stainless sheet. I heated the length of bar stock in sections and twisted it. Then I heated it in longer sections and bent it around a pipe length. Heated the ends and hammered. The sheet I trimmed and hammered with a ball pein to texture it. Punched it with an awl to curve it, heated and wrapped it around the brooch.

    Here's the result...

The bar stock and pin were stainless steel. When you forge stainless, it darkens and is able to rust. The pin was cold shaped, so it didn't change color.

Reminds me of the gold torcs , so favoured by the Iceni and others.

When I first read the title, I thought that we were in for a display of new $10 bills - my mistake!

    Regards

    Chas
