    New kilt

    Hi all,
I have finally finished making my first "proper" kilt- by that I mean using worsted wool tartan fabric with a kilting selfedge, following the instructions in TAOKM and its supplement for box pleated kiltmaking.
The tartan is I believe St Pirans (a Cornish tartan), and the fabric is 16oz from I think Lochcarron Mill.
The colours are predominantly cream/black with cream and red stripes.
Now on to the next one!
    Terry

Good job, I also recently finished making one for the first time and am now shopping around for the next tartan, kilt making seems like an addictive hobby doesn't it.

Thanks Derosa. Yes it is addictive...there's a real sense of achievement making yourself a decent kilt

I like the solid blocks of your kilt. I think a small patterned "Hound's tooth" vest over a cream colored shirt would go well under a burgundy Argyll jacket with your kilt. I am not suggesting you do that; the thought just popped into my mind.

    Good showing.

    Looks great, Terry.
If you are going to do it, do it in a kilt!

    Terry,

You look exceptional. Making anything yourself makes it more important and a bigger sense of pride for you. Wear it often. Again, great job.

    Thanks

Thanks for your kind words kiltedtom. Yes it certainly feels good when you finish up with something that you can wear.
