    Norsekilt #3

For 1 1/2 years ago I ordered a kilt length of the Norwegian Centennial tartan from the designer. The fabric is a double width 4 yards 16 oz D.C. Dalglish. Due to lack of spare time and little motivation to get started on this project, I didn't start untill September. I had also ordered a new Freelander sporran, and on a meeting at the Cally (The Caledonian Society of Norway) I was bragging about me turning up at the Burns Supper this year in my new sporran and kilt. It took me quite a few nights to get finnished in time.
Here are some pics of the kiltmaking in progress:

    Attaching the waistband:

The cotton lining is in place. As you can see, I have an inside left strap instead of the strap going through a button hole in the pleats. I think it makes the kilt more sturdy and easier to make, and you rarely see the left strap and buckle anyway.

    Two right straps:

    And they are embossed:

Finished at 3AM the day of the Burns Supper.

    And finally, me wearing it:

Beautiful kilt and tartan. I like how you did the inside/hidden left hip buckle. Very well done overall.

Amazing! The tartan is wonderful too... It looks just like Norway's flag... Has anyone thought of petitioning the government to make it the official tartan?

No I don't think that anyone have tryed that, but this tartan was made as a "gift" to the people of Norway in celebration of the centenary of the creation of the independent sovereign State of Norway in 1905.
It has also been featured on the websites to the Norwegian embassy in Britain.
The tartan shows the Norwegian and Scottish flag together.
