With all the targes being built I finally got in gear and completed the one I had been working on. Front is two layers of 5 ounce leather and 450 brass tacks center boss started life as a candlestick base Targe with the threaded plug in the boss Without the plug Back is two layers of blanket wool covered with German oil tan Elk hide with spike in place, Hand filing and threading the spike from a 3/4" bolt took more time then I thought. It took about twenty five hours from design to finished targe. All I have left to do is to attach the strap to carry it on my back and then I'm ready for the next Jacobite uprising comments and suggestions for the next one I build are welcomed OK Livingston, you have to get yours finished and pictures posted

Wow! It's stunning! Good pattern and design. You took the effort to make the back site look as good as the front. Good job!
Beautiful. Ingenious with the spike sheath in the back.
That's the nicest targe I have ever seen. Beautiful work. O'Neille
Excellent job! I don't see how you could improve upon it. I like how you embosssed the leather. Did you do that while the leather was wet? What tool did you use? (I've used the back of a butter knife in lieu of anything better...!)

What a braw targe! I am simply in awe of the amassed talents of our members.

Frighteningly deadly lookin'. There's a small targe-like shield with a flintlock pistol mounted in its center in the Harding Collection of Arms and Armour at the Art Institute of Chicago...in case you needed any ideas for the next one. Nice work. Best AA
