Remodeling a sporran so to speak
First of all, it has been a very long time since I have worn a kilt or been active on the forum, but I think I may have more time now. So, hello again everyone.
I got tired of my go to sporran, but I just dont feel up to making a brand new one right now. Whats a boy to do? Just change the tassels and pull strings, add a new piece of adornment to the front and KAPOW. . . almost new again sporran.
What it looked like before

What it looks like now!

The Eagle is the Navy symbol for a Petty Officer with the chevron removed. I have to start repurposing all of my enlisted stuff and this seemed like a pretty good way to do it. The "bells" are silver and handmade by Native Americans.
Hope you enjoy the remodel as much as I do

Nice sprucing up of an old sporran.
That shiny metal bird is all too familiar to me. I wear my crows as kilt pins, but that's a pretty good use for it too!
The grass is greener on the other side of the fence...and it's usually greenest right above the septic tank.

Feel free to copy the design. I got tired of the standard round flap and designed that one. I like the look of the spade, but I know some dont.

I am in the process of going to the dark side of the Khaki now, but the enlisted man in me will never die. The collar device is a little small for the sporran but the cap badge is flippin huge! I tried it but it was just too much crow for the sporran.

If you're talking about OCS, just remember what it was like to be junior enlisted and treat your men well and lead by example. I had a DivO who personified that and a CO, who despite being an Annapolis grad stayed in touch with the enlisted guys, and we would have followed them through the gates of hell on Sunday...just for fun. In combat(which we did wind up) they both proved their metal. Nobody was lost, and we just got more badass. With good leadership, there is nothing your unit can't achieve!
