I wanted a simple day or casual Sporran, but didn’t particularly like any of the ones I could find. Also wanted something with a little more capacity than most of the mass-produced ones. This is my attempt at a practical casual/day Sporran.. 74AE58E8-E1C8-4586-80C2-CDAA99ACD6DA.jpg 6BBB248C-C506-4993-9D26-3721E3236BDF.jpg

What are the dimensions of your sporran? When I made mine, I too thought the market models were too small. I built (and prefer) a two inch inside, six inch width and seven inch length for my brown (day wear / hunting) sporran. I don't carry a ton of things often, but need the room when I am going to be away from a "base camp" (car, home, my wife's huge department store inventory bag, etc.) It always feels good to have items that are specialized and made by yourself. Good for you.
You and I are on the same page regarding day Sporrans. The one pictured is 2 inches deep, 7 inches wide and 8 1/2 inches long. I don’t always need all that capacity but there are times when it is appreciated.

Very nice! What leather did you use?

Nothing at all fancy. I bought a big bag of leather reminants at Hobby Lobby, was lucky to have enough matching pieces to make the Sporran. I did double the thickness on the inside front and back as well as the flap to give it shape. I am just starting to play in leather work so I don't know much more specific about the leather, it was pre-dyed to the color you see. I did burnish the edges a bit more after the pictures were taken to give it a little more finished look.

I like the pattern choice personally. It's 'different', but traditional....if that makes sense. Keep up the good work!

Great job and I really have been toying with making a day sporran for myself. This is helping me get more certain of the possibility.
You've made the best casual day sporran I have seen! Congratulations!
Thank you!
