    Something different

The battle of the Alamo took place in March 1836
Jim Bowie and Davey Crockett were both of Scot-Irish desent
In order to honor Those brave defenders of freedom I built a knife based on the few known to have been made by Jim Black who made Bowies knife

Blade is 9 1/2 inches long I made it out of O1 steel

Its not a dirk or sgian but I Thought that maybe you Texicans might like it

    Great workmanship!

Perhaps this will make it more on topic. Plaque can be found at the Alamo.

    Interesting fact, there.

Here is a link to a bowie knife site with a discussion of the Scottish dirk:

I am a 6th generation native Texan. While I did not have any ancestors at the Alamo, I do have an ancestor who fought at San Jacinto.

That is a very nice knife!

Great craftmanship and knife. Thank you for sharing.

Wasn't Crockett also French (reading something on de la Croquette comes to mind)?

Also, interesting how the Bowie style reminds one of the WW II USMC K-Bar fghting knife.
